Insensitive Ignorant Incompetent or Simply Anti-Men ?
Union minister Maneka Gandhi in live question and answer session on 29th July said she has not heard or read of a single case of male suicide.
While government agency’s National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) data says, in 2015, as many as 1,33,623 suicides were reported in the country, of which 91,528 (68 per cent) were by men and 42,088 were by women. Of the 86,808 married persons who committed suicide in 2015, 64,534 (74 per cent) were men.
There was another question where a user posted about his matrimonial dispute, where his wife left their three-month-old daughter saying she cannot look after her. To which the Minister replied “I have not met a woman who is happily married , has a baby then runs off leaving a three month old baby on the grounds that she cannot look after her”. sticking to her anti male stand that it is always a man’s fault ( in 2015 she said that all violence is male generated) she told him introspect hinting that it could be his fault. she was
she was completely being insensitive towards male issues as completely dismissed the fact that it could be a woman fault. she was completely oblivious to the fact that women are capable of hurting/killing their children, killing off their husbands and other heinous crimes leave alone leaving a three month child. Why brand/label only men as criminals ?
On query posted by a user asking about what steps ministry is taking to stop parental alienation of the non custodial parent. she replied that men should own up responsibilities that is the should pay money first as part of maintenance. to this a user replied that she should not equate children to museum for which a father has to pay fees to see his children.
last year also when the minister was asked a question about drop out rates of boys from school and was asked to support boys as well for education she replied ” Not under me”. it showed her incompetence as she forgot the fact that minor males, boys are also children and they are directly under her ministry and as a minister she is responsible for seeing their wellbeing and overall development.
